Tošovice [ Cadastral territory ]

Tošovice spreads out 4 km northeast of Odry, on a slight rise between the peaks Hvězdová (434 m) and Mlýnský kopec (396 m) at the elevation above sea-level of 402 m. Through Tošovice goes the street from Odry to Fulnek. To Odry Tošovice was connected on 1st January 1976. Originaly a German village. In 1850 Tošovice had 368 inhabitants, in 1950 after finishing of settlement 264 inhabitants, in 2002 then 205 inhabitants. In the village there is Volunteer fire company with firehouse, groceries and inn.
Tošovice is first reminded in 1362 as a part of the demense of Odry. From 1381 a mention of privileges of this reevence comes, given to some Heřmanský. In 1673 the people of Tošovice participated in peasant uprising again their suzerain whereas the reeve was prisoned.
On the place of original wooden church from the 15th century and destroyed in 1910 a new grange church of St. Martin was built according to plans of architect Leopold Bauer. Internal equipment of the original wooden church was partly transported and preserved in the Silesian provincial museum in Opava (altar of St. Trio, picture of Madona etc.).
Mediaeval settlement was till to the end of World War II. all German, after 1918 with small Czech minority.
Tošovice lies at the edge of the Protected Landscape Area Poodří since 1991 and at the edge of Narutal park Oderské vrchy since 1994. In the village there is monumental tree (big-leaf lime tree). In Tošovice a sculptor and woodcutter Jan Schindler (1822 - 1893) was born who participated in decoration of Vienna's opera house, townhall and museum of art and history in Vienna.
The most important firm is Keramické závody, s. r. o. of Ing. Josef Hein specialized in production of tiles for fireplace stoves.
Since 2002 there is in the village in operation Ski centre with two artificially built downhill courses with artificial snowing. Operater of the area is Ing. Josef Hein. In winter the downhill courses enjoy a big visiting of skier from Odry region even from wide surroundings. For refreshing in the area serve for whole the days restaurants with hot meals that are open year round.
From the beginning of the 18th century the village sealing sign was majuscular initial letter of the name of the village - T.
