The Rybí village, formerly Rybník (in german texts Reimlich), is a valley village located under the southern slope of the Libhošťská Hůrka hill and the north-eastern slopes of the Holivák hill, about 5,5 km to the east from Nový Jičín. It is an intersection of three roads - Nový Jičín, Kopřivnice, Štramberk. With regard to its position in the Podradhošťská upland it attracts tourists to walk around the countryside, which is very varied as far as form is concerned - with the view of Moravská brána (The Moravian Gate), Jeseníky mountains, Ostrava city, Hostýn hills, Beskydy mountain range. The village is situated in the national park Podbeskydí. About 58 significant elements are registered in the village cadastre.
Plní funkci základního stupně územní samosprávy a v různé míře je také vykonavatelem státní správy.
